Christmas in Idaho

I still have so much catching up to do with the holidays and graduation, but a little at a time, right??? Initially we weren't planning to go "home" for the holidays just because of job hunting and unsure moving plans, but the first part of December we decided to surprise our families and just show up. We drove all that way with two small kids, who did the best two small kids could possibly do. I'm not kidding. They hardly complained. We'll see what the ride back brings!

Our first stop was Idaho Falls for Christmas. My dad knew we were coming because I needed him to get our packages ready to send, so my mom wouldn't have a clue we were coming. My Dad met us in the driveway and we went downstairs where my mom was in her sewing room and sent Hallie in. Hallie simply said, "Hi Grandma," and my mom turned around thinking to see Hadley, Devin's daughter, and screamed out with excitement, "Hallie!!! What are you doing here???" We completely blew her away! It was a great surprise!

The next morning, Hallie called my sister Julie and my sister-in-law Missy on my mom's cell phone. They both recognized Hallie's voice and screamed with excitement that we showed up. I love surprises like that!

Here are all the gingerbread houses we made with the cousins. We had so much fun that it's been decided to make it a yearly tradition!

Christmas Eve started with a tasty dinner and lots of great conversation. There were enough kids present that we now have to set up a kids table. They love it! After dinner we did a program about the meaning of each symbol of Christmas, since we had all done the Nativity a couple of times, sang Christmas songs, and got the cookies and milk ready for Santa. With all the kids around, it just brings out the kid in ya.

Here are some of the cousins in their Christmas PJ's. Hallie and Gavin had matching ones that said, "What Santa doesn't bring me, Grandma will!" So fun! These cousins all love each other and had a blast together!

Christmas morning brought lots of surpries and smiles. My kids loved their presents and those gifts continue to keep them entertained. Good job Santa.

One of the cutest gifts my mom made for the granddaughters was a tu-tu. It's been a hit!

We spent the remainder of the day just enjoying each other, food, gifts, and relaxing. We just loved being with family and we are thankful for the time we have had and are currently having with our families. Once again, a very memorable Christmas!
