The Tulip Picker

Oh Emily!  How she loves those tulips!
After the flowers first bloomed, she picked a few and we all thought it was cute, but we told her not to pick anymore.  She did.  She picked again, and then again.  After today's latest picking, we've decided it's just too cute and she really doesn't understand why we don't want her to pick the tulips.  The thing is, she's not just picking them to be destructive.  She truly enjoys those flowers!  She's gathers them so gently, holds them tightly, and all is right in her world.

So Emily, thank you for showing us pure enjoyment!

April's Beginnings (April 2014)

We started off April with Emily getting her cast off.  It also happened on mine and Chad's 9th wedding anniversary.  So happy anniversary to us!  We were so grateful her arm healed correctly.  Within a day or two, and a little help from daddy, she was using her arm normally again.

Just after the cast came off, we were waiting to do the post x-rays.

He wanted his face to look like a cheetah.

I couldn't find Emily one time and then I heard the closet door open.

First time using sidewalk chalk, I think.

While Hallie was participating in her volleyball skills camp, we played at Barnes and Noble.

Being good listeners to conference.

Family activity while the men are at priesthood session.

Emily's Broken Arm (March 2014)

Silly little Emily broke her arm in March.  She was only wearing a diaper and white church shoes when she stood on the couch, bounced a few times, then I think she slipped.  I think she put her arm out to catch herself and that was all it took.  It wasn't even crazy bouncing, but those dress shoes sure can be slippery!

I could tell her crying was different, like really hurt.  She kept holding her wrist, and since it was about 9pm she was already tired, so she laid on me and actually let me put an ice pack on it.  Soon after she was asleep.  Chad kept checking her wrist and arm and after being through a similar thing with Hallie at 11 months (yes, Hallie broke her arm at 11 months), he thought for sure it was broken.  I didn't know for sure.  I put her in her bed and got to be myself.  About 30 minutes later she was awake and wouldn't stop crying.  So off we went to RediCare.

To make a long story short, it took 3 separate visits to RediCare for them to determine it was in fact broken.  It wasn't even her wrist.  It was her elbow.  Then it was another visit to the orthopedic surgeon to get the official cast which was pink.  She did great by the third visit to RediCare, before then she just fought them.  The orthopedic doc was amazing with her.

She never let it get her down.  She just kept being super spunky Emily.

One person at church told me she was surprised it took her this long to break her arm.  Emily likes to manifest her "free spirit" at church, and everywhere else.

And through it all, Chad was right.  When they told us the wrist wasn't broken, and then the elbow wasn't broken, Chad wasn't convinced, especially since he saw the x-ray.  It wasn't until the radiologist finally read the x-ray and confirmed it, did they believe us.  I'm very thankful for a knowledgeable and experienced husband in the health field.  He's saved us more than once.

Emily's 2nd Birthday (Feb. 3, 2014)

The little stinker turned 2!  She is so spunky and cute!

Enjoying her birthday dinner.  Her absolute favorite veggie is roasted asparagus.

She loves Minnie Mouse and the princesses.

Her favorite treat is ice cream.  She'll keeping asking for more!

Lucky for us, Bill and Terrie were here to visit on Emily's birthday.
Well Emily is quite the 2 year old!  She loves to wear dresses everyday, multiple times a day!  She knows what she wants and does her best to make sure she gets it.  She loves to spin in circles and grabs my hand and says, "Let's dance."  She also loves to say, "Let's go, let's go!"  It's hard to slow her down!  Chad and I constantly say that she is a free spirit!  Besides her dresses, she also adores hanging out in her diaper.  More freedom, right?!  She would probably go to nursery everyday if she could.  She now likes to help out in the kitchen, mostly stirring of course.  It's funny how much she likes babies and especially sitting in the infant carriers.  Emily has brought so much laughter and happiness to our lives.  She's the funniest child yet!  Em's loves her sister and brother, and can't wait until she can join them on the school front.  Today during sacrament meeting, she slipped out into the aisle, twirled a bit, walked more to the front, then once she saw me coming, she darted for the stairs to get up by the pulpit.  Oh Em's!  You keep it so entertaining!  We sure love our little stinker!
